Final Production "Birdlime"

This is the finished production of our opening sequence. Hope you enjoy

Question 1: In what ways does your media product product use, developor challenge forms and conventions in real media products?

I decided the best way to answer question 1 is by doing a directors commentary. This has allowed to explain what convetions we decided to use and what conventions we decided to challenge. I also have mentioned a few things we thought through that a viewer would subconciously notice (i.e music choice).

Question 2 How does your media represent particular social groups?

We try to represent mature teenagers and adults. To do this we made the business mans appearance humble which allowed the audience to see themselves as that character. We also gave the business man props that gave him an innocent side so the audience found it easier to relate.

We thought that we would try to represent peoples light and dark side. The business is meant to represent the light side of a persons personality as he has an innocent side to him. The Hitman represents the dark side as he has a cold personality. This concept has also been used in the film piggy. In this film they portray it differently as the main character has split personality disorder.

The reason we decided to do this was to try to evoke some emotion and thought from the audience as they can look back on moments they regret doing.

Question 3 What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

For this question we had to explain why we thought film 4 was the best choice of media institution. To show this we got together to demonstrate what our pitch would be to a film 4 executive. In the following film we explain why we wanted this institution and why it is best suited.

Question 4 Who were the audience for your media product?

The audience we decided to target was people between the age of 16 and 25 as we believe this the prime age range for gritty thrillers. We took inspiration from a few films and this was the target auidence for them aswell. The two main films we took inspiration from was snatch and layer cake.

We wanted to make our film relateable to the target audience. To make our opening sequence relatible we tried to accomplish a down to earth atmostphere. This ment we were not allowed to use flash cars, surreal secnarios (for example multiple huge explosions)  or unique enviroments (mount everest). We achieved this downto earth atomostphere by using familer enviroments like towns and villages. We assumed that most of our audience would live in a town or village similer to what we filmed. We also tried to make the buisness man seem somewhat relatible so they would be more effect on the death, to do this we chose an average looking car; a modest looking house and subtle things like the key ring attachements which were there to show his more innocent side. We toyed with the idea of making the hitman relatible through humorous lines in the voice over but it didnt suit the mood of the film so we decided on giving him a cold personality.

Question 5 How did you attract/address your audience?

I felt the best way to deal with question 5 was to use a prezi presentation this is because I found it easier to present my ideas into this presentation. Sorry if your not a fan of blues but I just wanted to give you a relaxing groove to help with all your marking.
